Reliable Detection of Transparent Objects, Including Thin-walled Clear, Plastic Bottles

  • Uses OMRON's unique optical system ("Inner View") that can detect various shapes of clear, plastic bottles.

  • Detects a wide range of bottles from 500-ml bottles to 2-l bottles, and from single bottles to sets of stocked bottles.

  • Provides a high degree of protection (IP67), mutual interference prevention, and EN standard compliance.

Omron strengthens it's popular miniature photoelectric sensor family E3Z with the introduction of the retro reflective type E3Z-B. The latter is dedicated for application requiring stable and reliable detection of transparent objects.

E3Z-B operates as a standard retro-reflective sensor but the optical design was optimised for the detection of PET bottles along with other transparent objects. The sensor can reliably detect even thin-walled PET bottles with a square cross section, which have in the past proved to be very difficult to sense. 

E3Z-B is available in two versions, short and long sensing distance type. The first can detect up to 500mm distance and is suited for single bottle detection. The long-range version covers up to 2000mm and is ideal for large object detection such as palletisers and stacker cranes. It is also recommended in dusty environment were possible build up of dirt on the sensor lens might occur. Both types maintain the same excellent features as the E3Z family, which consist of a rigid sealing property (IP67), mutual interference prevention and high immunity against EMI as exhibited on the standard E3Z family.

To ensure that this sensor can be used in almost all environments OMRON offers a new reflector E39-R1K. This special reflector is designed with a special coating to prevent surface condensation and is recommended for application requiring washdowns with warm or hot water.
